Our Pastors
David and Stephanie Pursifull are the lead pastors at Building Church. In 2007 they were sent out by their pastor, Larry Stockstill, to Huntsville from their home church Bethany World Prayer Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
David grew up the son of missionaries in Mexico. He returned to the states and was attending college at UAB when he felt the Lord was calling him into ministry. He transferred to bible college in Baton Rouge where he met Stephanie. They were married in 1990. He and Stephanie both attended MTI (Ministers Training Institute), a one year intensive training after graduating from Bible School.
After graduating from MTI he and his wife became involved in church-planting in Latin America. After on the ground training, they planted and pastored a church in Mexico for 9 years that has grown to 750. In 2001, David was asked by his pastor to move back to the US to be the coordinator for a Global Church Planting Project. In seven years David coordinated the planting of over 12,000 churches around the world and traveled to almost 40 countries training leaders and networking with leaders to target unreached areas with the Gospel.
David's family is originally from the Birmingham area and after several years, he began to feel God calling him back to North Alabama. David and Stephanie moved to Huntsville in the summer of 2007 with the dream of building a life-giving church focused on the simplicity of the gospel and the power of an intimate relationship with a loving God. Their goal at Building Church is to build people; giving them hope, healing, and helping them finding their purpose in life.
With the direction and partnership with ARC, Building Church was launched September 9, 2007.
